Dear AODocs Users,
We’re pleased to announce a brand new version of AODocs views, planned for the first quarter of 2025.
You can already activate (and deactivate) the new views and library homepage in specific libraries or on your whole domain. This means you can test and adopt them before the official release. Learn more: Use the API to activate the new views and library homepage.
The new views are faster loading, there are new actions available directly from the views, and they provide a better user experience, based on your feedback.
This article outlines the differences between the legacy views, beta views and new views.
Automatically generated table of contents
Global page changes
- We replaced the button to switch views with a drop-down menu in the top blue bar.
- You can resize the Browse by panel.
- The library administration and domain administration open in the current tab.
Table and grid changes
- The Manage columns button is now on the right side of the table.
- You can now autosize and pin columns
- Click the title of a document to open the document in the current tab.
- Click anywhere in a row (except the title) to select the document.
- Right-click anywhere on a row to access the option to open the document in a new tab.
- Use the checkboxes, or Shift-click and Ctrl-click to select multiple rows.
- The view setting in the library administration to always open documents in a new tab is ignored. Learn more: Configure the layout of views.
Action bar
- In Team Folders and Secured Folders, the options to create new folders and import folders from Google Drive are in the New menu.
- The Rename action is no longer available in the action bar. You can rename documents and folders directly in the table.
- The export action has been split into five actions, organized in two menus.
Note: The feature flags for these actions are no longer available.
The Copy menu contains these export actions:
All copy actions are available to everyone except viewers with a copy restriction. |
The Move menu contains these export actions:
All move actions are available to administrators. |
- The workflow actions have been revamped.

Filters
- You can select several values in Person filters and File type filters.
- You can collapse the filters. In collapsed mode, any filters with values applied remain visible.
- The view setting Expand filter panel in the library administration to show or hide filters by default is ignored.
Attached files panel
- There now is an attached files panel in libraries using Google Cloud Storage and Azure Blob Storage.
Note: Libraries using Google Cloud Storage and Azure Blob Storage still don"t have grid mode.
- You can now select one or more files in the attached files panel.
- The Download action downloads the selected files only.
- The Copy to another document button replaces the Cherry Picker and is available to everyone. Previously the Cherry Picker had to be activated with a feature flag. With the Copy to another document feature, there is no option to create a new document (you must create it beforehand), or to convert attached files.
