AODocs 65 Release notes

Dear AODocs Users,

We’re pleased to announce the release of AODocs 65.

This release introduces new features and bug fixes to the AODocs application. These are the main new features:

  • users can edit Microsoft Office files stored in libraries using Google Cloud Storage and Azure Blob Storage, using Microsoft 365 online editors
  • external users without a Google Account can sign in to AODocs and work in Google Drive libraries
  • users can synchronize Drive labels with AODocs properties

Launch details

Rollout pace: From 23 to 24 July 2024.

Integration with Office 365 online editors

We've partnered with Microsoft to offer the capability to edit Microsoft Office files stored in libraries using Google Cloud Storage and Azure Blob Storage, with Microsoft 365 online editors.

Availability

The feature is available as part of the AODocs Content Services license, in all libraries using Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob Storage.

Each individual user requires an active Microsoft 365 license to be able to use the Microsoft 365 editors.

Contact your AODocs sales representative or send an email to sales@aodocs.com for licensing information.

Sign in to AODocs with email and password

In addition to Google and Microsoft Single Sign-On, AODocs now offers the possibility to sign in with any type of email account.

A password is defined by users when they sign in for the first time.

This feature lets you collaborate with external partners in AODocs, regardless of whether they have Google or Microsoft accounts.

Availability

The feature is available for all users.

It must be activated at the domain level. Contact your AODocs representative or send an email to sales@aodocs.com for details.

Note: This feature will be available a few weeks after the AODocs 65 release, as a hotfix. It isn't available in advance on test domains.

View, download and upload files to Drive-based libraries without a Google Account

Users who access AODocs without a Google Account can now work in Google Drive libraries thanks to:

  • a preview for Google Drive files that doesn’t require a Google Account
  • the ability to download Google Drive files in the corresponding Microsoft format
  • the ability to upload files in Drive (as new AODocs attached files or to replace existing ones)

The aim of these features is also to simplify collaboration with external partners.

Availability

The feature is available for all users.

The user experience for non-Google accounts is now close to that of Google Accounts: users with non-Google accounts can view, upload and download files in Google Drive libraries. There is no change to the experience of users with Google Accounts.

Note: This feature will be available a few weeks after the AODocs 65 release, as a hotfix. It isn't available in advance on test domains.

Synchronize Google Drive labels with AODocs properties

It's now possible to set up automatic synchronization of Drive labels to AODocs properties, or the other way round.

Availability

The feature is available as part of the AODocs Application Platform license.

It requires advanced setup from our Services team: contact your AODocs representative or send an email to support@aodocs.com for details.

Bug fixes

  • When a view has a pre-filter based on folders, only the selected folders are displayed in the Browse by panel.

  • The content of DOC (not DOCX) files is now searchable in libraries using Google Cloud Storage and Azure Blob Storage.
  • When two users tried to attach a file to the same document within a minute, one of the files was not attached. This has been fixed, but there still is a 2-second window where the issue can occur.
  • Downloading files with a parenthesis in their name no longer fails in libraries using Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob Storage.
  • The format of date properties now complies with the Australian standard when using the en_AU locale.
  • It's now possible to add URLs containing a space in URL properties.
  • The search bar is no longer repopulated with the last deleted query when switching views.
  • An error no longer occurs when users click Save twice in quick succession in a document in create mode.
  • We improved the text and icons of the File type filter (previously MIME type filter).
