Scan a Drive folder to find missing files and broken permissions

As a super administrator, you can scan a Drive folder to find files missing from your AODocs library. This ensures permissions are consistent with Google Drive.

AODocs uses the Google Drive application programming interface (API) to automatically detect new content added to your AODocs folders. However, unexpected Google Drive errors can sometimes prevent files from importing correctly during the ownership transfer process.

When this happens, the imported file isn't visible in the AODocs user interface. Also, it isn't owned by the AODocs storage account. This feature helps you locate these missing files and complete the import operation. It also checks and fixes any permission inconsistencies between AODocs and Google Drive.

1. Open your library in the AODocs interface.

2. Open a view with a "Browse by" folders structure.

3. Select a folder, open the More actions menu and select Scan Drive content.

A dialog opens with a warning you that checking the ownership might take time and make the other operations on your domain slower. Google Drive takes up to 5 seconds per file or folder to transfer the ownership.

Tip: If you expect to find a lot of missing files, we recommend that you perform this operation during low activity periods (for example, overnight or during a weekend).

4. If required, select the Check and fix the permissions as well checkbox. During the scan, AODocs checks that the permissions on files and folders in Google Drive are consistent with the permissions defined in AODocs. If this is not the case, the permissions defined in AODocs are applied to the items in Google Drive.

3. Click Scan.

A message appears, indicating that the scan is in progress. Another message indicates when the scan is complete.

If required, click See details to monitor progression of the job
