Dear UFO users,
We’re pleased to announce a new version (2.0) of the Universal File Opener (UFO)!
With this release, we improved the lock feature. We know that many pain points and requests you have about UFO concern the lock. So we’re really happy to release this new version and bring you more lock configuration possibilities.
Automatically unlock the file when the editor is closed
We know that having to manually unlock a file after editing it was one of the main pain points when using UFO. For some editors, we can now identify when the editor is closed and automatically unlock the file.

Remove the lock after saving a file
To complete the automatic unlock feature, we’ve improved the UFO notifications when we can’t detect that the editor is closed and you can choose to remove the lock after saving a file. If you use this option, the lock is not extended and the file is no longer locked. Be careful if you intend to continue editing after saving your file.
Configure a default lock duration when deploying UFO at the domain level
Another pain point when using UFO was the default lock duration of one hour. To quickly address this point, we now allow administrators to use a registry key when deploying UFO at the domain level and define their custom default lock duration.

Version 2.0 will be progressively rolling out on 27 August 2019.
