This article explains how to copy property values from a source document to one or more documents. All documents must be in the same document class.
You must have write permission on the target documents. You don't have to have write permission on the source document.
Note: This feature replaces the Metadata copy bookmarklet, which isn't compatible with the new views.
1. Open a new view.
2. Select one or more target documents. All the target documents must be in the same document class.
If you select a document with a draft version, the draft version will be updated with the selected properties. The main version won't be updated.
3. Click Update properties from a source document.
4. Select the source document from the drop-down menu in the dialog.
Start typing the document title to narrow down the list of options.
Only documents in the same class as your target documents are displayed in the list.
5. Click Next.
6. Select the property values you want to copy.
7. If required, activate the switch Overwrite existing values.
- If you activate this switch, any property values in the target documents will be overwritten with values from the source document.
- If you don't activate this switch, existing properties in the target documents won't be changed. Only properties without values will be filled in.
Note: You can overwrite existing property values with empty values.
8. Click Copy properties.
9. Click Update documents in the dialog.
A confirmation message appears when the properties have been copied to the target documents.
