Delete files and folders from Team Folders and Secured Folders

When working in Team Folders or Secured Folders with the AODocs Smartbar installed, you can delete:

  • files and folders in Google Drive
  • files in the Google Drive Preview
  • files in the Google editor

You must have the necessary permissions to perform these actions.

1. Open a Team Folder or Secured Folders In Google Drive.

2. Hover your cursor over the file or folder you want to delete.

3. Click the Delete file or Delete folder button.

4. Click Delete in the confirmation dialog.

Note: If you delete a folder, only the files and subfolders you have permission to delete will be deleted.

1. Open your file in the Google Drive preview.

2. Click the Delete file button.

3. Click Delete in the confirmation dialog.

1. Open a file in the Google editor. 

2. Click the Delete file button.

3. If required, enter a reason for deleting the document. Library administrator can see this message when the document is in the trash.

4. Click Delete in the confirmation dialog.

What happens when you delete documents?

When you delete a document, it goes to the AODocs library trash. It stays there for the library's defined retention period before being permanently deleted. Learn more: Manage the retention period of deleted documents.

During the retention period, library administrators have additional options. They can:

  • permanently delete the item
  • restore the item

What if you can't delete files or folders?

Library administrators can restrict contributors' permissions, to prevent them from deleting documents and folders in Team Folders and Secured Folders. In this case, the delete feature is unavailable for contributors.
