Some AODocs document classes include lookup properties – properties that are filled in automatically from another document you link to. For example, on a Purchase order, you pick a Supplier, and the supplier's primary contact, payment terms, and currency appear on the purchase order by themselves.

Pick the linked document
When you create or edit a document that has a lookup, you'll see a field for the linked document (for example, Supplier).
1. Click the field. The placeholder reads Search for an option.
2. Start typing to search, or simply focus the empty field to browse the first documents.
Each suggestion shows the document title. If your administrator set it up, extra properties appear underneath to help you tell similar documents apart.
3. Click the document you want.
Note: You must pick an existing document – you can't type free text. To choose a different document, clear the field and pick another one.
Watch the values fill in
As soon as you pick the linked document, its values are copied into the lookup properties on the form – before you even save. A short spinner may appear while the values are computed.
The lookup properties are read-only: you can see them but not edit them. If you clear the linked document, the pulled values are emptied straight away.
Read a document with lookup properties
When you open the document, the linked-document field shows the linked document's title (for example, "Clearline Office Supply Co."), and the lookup properties show the values pulled from it. If the linked document changes later, these values update automatically within moments.
If the pulled values are empty
If a lookup property is empty, the linked document may not be set, or it may have been deleted. Re-open the document, pick the linked document again, and save. If the values still don't appear, contact your library administrator.
