Search for files in your Team Folders and Secured Folders

This article explains how to search for files in Google Drive when working in AODocs Team Folders and Secured Folders. With the AODocs Smartbar installed, you can use the feature Search in current folder

Important: The Search in current folder feature isn't available for non-Google Workspace external users.

Run a search with keywords

You can run the search from the library root or navigate to the required folder

1. Open a Team Folder or Secured Folder in Google Drive. If required, navigate to a specific folder. 

2. Enter one or more keywords in the search bar. 

3. Click the Search in current folder button.

All files and subfolders within the selected folder that match the keywords are displayed.

Tip: If you select a file in the results list, its path is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Refine a search query

You can further refine your search after running a search in current folder.

1. Click the Advanced search button.

2. In the dialog, enter the criteria by which you want to further refine your search.

In the example below, the search results for files containing the keyword “contract” is restricted to include only PDFs.

In our example, the search results show only PDF files matching the keyword “contract” contained in the selected folder and its subfolders.

Tip: If you select a file in the result list, its path is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Use an empty search query to list all files and subfolders

You can use the Search in current folder button to display all the files contained in a folder and its subfolders.

1. Select an AODocs library using the library picker. You can run the search from the library root or navigate to the required folder.

2. Click the Search in current folder button without entering any keywords in the search box.

All files and subfolders in the selected folder are displayed.

Tip: If you select a file in the results list, its path is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
