Permissions required by the AODocs Smartbar

When installing the AODocs Smartbar Chrome extension, end users must grant permissions on their Google Account.

Note:
– If the AODocs Smartbar has been installed on the Google domain by a Google Workspace super admin, end users still have to accept these permissions individually.

– You can review the permissions in the Chrome menu More actions > Extensions > Manage extensions.

When you install the Smartbar, this screen appears. Click Add extension.

The table below lists the permissions requested by the AODocs Smartbar and the reason why they are required.

docs.google.com

The extension can add Smartbar features to your Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides and Google Drawings interfaces.

drive.google.com

The extension can add Smartbar features in your Google Drive interface.

Read your browsing history

To sync updates made using the Smartbar if Google Drive is open in more than one tab.

Know your email address

To sign in with your AODocs account.

 

Important: All the permissions listed above are subject to change in future Smartbar versions, depending on the requirements for new features, technical changes or new Chrome APIs. When a new version of the Smartbar requires additional permissions, users are prompted to authorize the new permissions before activating the new version.
