Known issue with the Google Docs Summary feature

In February 2022, Google introduced an automated Summary feature to Google Docs. Learn more: New smart canvas feature in Google Docs.

This feature displays the Description metadata field of the Google document, which, until Google introduced the Summary feature, was only accessible in the right panel of Google documents.

AODocs has always used the Description field to attach technical information to files, which is needed for some important features to work, for example, the AODocs Smartbar, the document search in the AODocs web and mobile apps, and more.

As a result, this information now shows up in the new Google document summaries available in the left panel of Google documents.

What we are doing

We're working on removing the need to put information in the Description field, but it's a complex and lengthy task. Bear with us, we're doing all we can to fix this, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

In the meantime

Currently, it's not possible to deactivate the Summary feature in Google Docs.

It's not possible to manually delete the technical details from the Description field of Google documents managed by AODocs. If you do this the information is immediately added back.
