UFO File lock - release immediately when document is closed

When you open a file using UFO it gets locked so other users cannot edit it.
When you close that file it should IMMEDIATELY release the file and not lock it for an hour like is the current way.

  • Hello Daniel,

Thank you for your feedback. It is related to other posts:

We have clearly identified this as an improvement to the behavior of the UFO and we understand the frustration it caused.
I personally followed up with our product manager of the UFO to prioritize this.

  • Absolutely. This is really embarrassing and unbelievable.  As admins we also have no way to unlock files.  Totally unacceptable.

  • We would really like to see files unlocked as soon as they are closed.  This is a huge issue that impacts our ability to work on time sensitive issues.

  • Any update on this?  Some of my users are so frustrated by this, they are working with docs offline.

    Thank you,

  • Just to add we're also experiencing issues with this issue in our business. It would be preferable if a file lock could be automatically dropped when a user closes a file opened via AoDocs UFO. Is there a reason why this doesn't happen by default?

Also, what's the recommend practice if a user comes to us and says another user has locked a file they're working on? It's not always possible to contact the user who has locked the file as they may be working off-site/etc? Waiting an hour for the file lock to expire isn't a workable solution?

  • Adding to the rest of the comments / complaints. This is a huge issue for our pilot group. The fact that when someone opens the document for a hot second just to take a peek, make a quick edit or even print the doc - the rest of the team is locked out of the file for an hour - this is a show stopper for us.

This issue is now over a year old. When is AODocs going to fix this?

  • Dear all,

I'm happy to announce that you will see improvements on the lock removal capability in the next version of the UFO (planned in March '19). We will give users an option to remove the lock after saving the file.

  • You have mentionned in Febraury that users will get an option to remove the lock after saving the file and it was supposed to be in a new version of the UFO (planned in March '19). We were very excited about that feature. Now that we are mid-June, would you have an update on it?

    Thank you!
