Make Templating Service easier to use

The abstraction for the templating service is great -- but I feel this should be an out-of-the-box option without the need for a custom script.   ie, Admin creates custom Properties, then uses ${document:Property} token in template doc and script automatically runs on update.   Perhaps a checkbox "Enable Templating Service" to trigger that script on creation/update.   Thanks!
