Monthly summary reports of published documents sent to users

In Document Managment, I was setting up the final stage of a workflow to send notices to users (about 100 people in a google group) when a document was published.  However, people are concerned that that's too many emails filling an in-box, but instead wanted a monthly email showing which documents were published in the preceding month instead.  

Is there a way to get a summary report of documents moving into a certain stage (published) and automatically sending that out at certain intervals (monthly)?
