Display category values through doc classes

Hello,

Here is a feature request often asked by our users.

You can define a category and then use this category in different classes.

Then you can create a view to display documents through different classes but you can't display the category values for all doc classes.

Only the values of the category of the doc class selected for the view will be displayed. It's really a shame and our users are really frustrated to not have this feature.

It would be really great to have the possibility to display the values for one category across all document classes.

  • Hello Hervé,
Define a category and use it in different classes is in line with our objectives but the development is not planned yet. We took your request into consideration for our roadmap and this feature could be manage from the new domain administration console in the long term.
    Thank you for your feedback!

  • Hello Sarah,

Thanks for your question! We are actively working on this.

This is part of an incoming massive improvement of the search capabilities in AODocs.

Thanks to a new and more powerful search engine, we'll be able to unlock many search features, including cross-document class and even cross-library search.

Properties of different document classes with the same name and same type will:

    • Have their values displayed in the same columns
    • Share the same end-user filters
    • Be used for full-text search.

Currently, only the document class on which the view is configured is used for these elements.

These improvements should arrive in the first half of 2024. We'll confirm & precise the ETA along the way.

    Any questions?

    Best regards,

Marine, for the AODocs Product Team
