Option to hide document class under the "New" button

I would like to hide classes from contributor role. For example, if there is a relation document class, I would like to hide the related class from 'New' as it would prevent users from creating a new document from the class so they would only be able to relate when on the main document class (using the plus icon). The class would have a Visibility option property to 'hide' under 'New' button just like a view can hide.

  • I agree this would be highly useful and allow for some important data creation restrictions.

  • We'd highly appreciate this feature too in order to prevent creation of unrelated documents.

  • Has this by chance been implemented in the more recent AODocs releases?

  • I had a similar requirement, the only difference is that I am creating the related document using a script so I could hide the class from the "new" list by setting the document creators to 'no one' in the Document Class security tab.

  • Somewhat related to this new structure in the latest AODcos update(I believe 57).

I have templates that prior to the design change would show up immediately when the New button was clicked, now the users must pay attention and click the arrow to open the template list. These templates are pre-loaded with values unique each template. If the user simply clicks the New Document(which seems most appropriate after clicking New) the templates are not used an thus the prepopulated values are not present on the created document. In most cases the pre-populated values are hidden from the user as I don't want them changing the values.

This then prevents the document from being routed or the necessary fields from being present. The result is a lot of "invalid" documents that can't be processed.
