Ability to use AND/OR in state transition rules

Instead of the simple If  X true then transition is it possible to have additional logic such as:

If X and Y true then transition

If X or Y true then transition

  • Isn't it possible to do the second scenario by just listing the conditions in order?

  • Hello Duncan,

Thank you for your feedback. We would be facing limitations from our current interface to manage the situation you describe. But it is definitely a interesting suggestion. It is not our priorities right now, but we'll consider it in the future.

    Thank you!

  • Hi Javier,

Thanks a lot for your interest! This has not been scheduled in the roadmap yep.

If you are looking for ways to lighten a workflow configuration, calculated properties may help you take some of the business logic from the transitions and workflow states into the property values. Property formulas can help you handle the AND/OR logic (if X and Y, then value = A, if X or Y, then value = B), and you can then based a transition on the calculated value.

Let me know if this helps!

  • Hi Marine

Another very useful use case I see with this feature request is about handling parallel approval from two or more groups of users.

Example : A document issued needs to be approved in parallel by two groups of people in two different roles (ex: project management team and finance team). Only one user of each role needs to approve.

In AODocs right now there is no way to do this if i'm not mistaken. Either you configure two manual transitions for each role to approve, but the first user to complete the approval would trigger the transition without waiting for the approval of the second role.

Having the possibility to configure a transition like this:

Transition to State 2 if any single member of "RoleY" AND "RoleZ" select "Approve" workflow action.

Not every approval process can be done sequentially in two steps.

It would also be very useful to be able to use OR with workflow actions inside a transition.

Ex: Transition to State 2 if everyone from Role A either select "Approve" OR "Outside area of expertise" workflow actions
