Rename files and folders in Secured Folders

With the AODocs Smartbar installed, you can rename files and folders in Secured Folders when working in Google Drive.

To do this, you must have the permission to edit the file or folder you want to rename.

Rename folders in Secured Folders

Note: The Rename folder button is available in Secured Folders only. In Team Folders, use the standard Google Drive feature.

1. In Google Drive, open a Secured Folder.

2. Hover your cursor over the folder you want to rename. The AODocs Smartbar buttons appear on the same line as the folder name.

3. Click the Rename folder button.

4. In the Rename AODocs folder dialog, enter a new name for your folder and click Rename.

Important: Only library administrators can rename the library root folder. Learn more: Configure your library's general settings.

Rename files in Secured Folders

1. In Google Drive, open an AODocs library.

2. Hover your cursor over the file you want to rename. The AODocs Smartbar buttons appear on the same line as the folder name.

3. Click the Rename button.

Note:
– For the legacy Smartbar, the Rename file button is available in Secured Folders only. In Team Folders, use the standard Google Drive feature.
– For the new Smartbar, use the standard Google Drive feature in both Team Folders and Secured Folders.

4. In the Rename dialog, enter a new name for your file and click OK.
