Important: This article is for legacy Smartbar users. If you're using the new Smartbar, you grant Google Drive permissions when you install the new Smartbar. There are no further permissions because the new Smartbar is not available in Gmail. Learn more: What is the AODocs Smartbar?
After installing the legacy AODocs Smartbar, as a user, you can grant permissions to define where the Smartbar is authorized.
Note: If Smartbar permissions have been deployed on your domain by your Google Workspace super admin, as a user you don’t have to grant permissions individually.

Access the AODocs Smartbar permissions
1. From Gmail or Google Drive, select the Smartbar extension button next to the URL bar.
2. Select the Permissions button. The AODocs Smartbar – Update permissions dialog opens.
Activate or deactivate the Smartbar authorization in Gmail
1. From the AODocs Smartbar – Update permissions dialog, select Revoke existing permissions.
2. In the AODocs Smartbar – Request permissions dialog, check or uncheck the option Access your emails content to import into AODocs.
3. Click Allow.
Deactivate all Smartbar features
1. From the AODocs Smartbar – Update permissions dialog, select Revoke existing permissions.
2. In the AODocs Smartbar – Request permissions dialog, select Never for this account.
Important: Selecting Never for this account completely deactivates the Smartbar. It will no longer be initialized and you won't be asked to grant these permissions. To use the Smartbar again, re-enable it: click the Smartbar extension button next to the URL bar, then click Enable the extension for this account.
